Myora is an Australian owned agricultural business established in 1983. Located in the Limestone Coast of South Australia, Myora are passionate about providing superior value to their customers and producing a top world class product.
Myora is centred around making holistic, consistent, and considered genetic and breed advancements. Our aim is to enhance pork production by delivering improvements in economic profitability, environmental sustainability, and social welfare to satisfy our customers and consumers.
Jeff Braun’s working career began processing, boning and grading carcasses whilst working in the meat industry in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia. His passion and interest in carcass quality and improvement developed in these early years before an opportunity arose in Mount Gambier to establish Myora.
Jeff’s passion to produce a quality pork product has remained a consistent vision. Jeff believes that to design an elite pig, both the science and art of breeding is required. Jeff’s focused criteria of breeding traits have developed from his interest in selecting animals with high milk quality and volume and a carcass producing more saleable meat yield.
Myora, now managed by the second generation, is driven to grow and innovate whilst upholding Jeff’s vision and legacy.
There are several ways Myora contributes to sustainability. Myora genetics are renowned for high birth weight and early lean fast growth to market. Myora aims to lower carbons emissions through reduced maintenance days with our genetically highly productive and feed efficient animals.
Myora is consistently looking for solutions to adopt more efficient ways to reduce our carbon footprint and to responsibly produce a high-quality pork product. Along with our genetic design, our efficient production systems aim to conserve energy and water and meet our sustainability goals. Other programs include managing animal waste by producing an exceptional liquid fertilizer and compost for improved land care and environmental outcomes.
Myora continually looks for ways to maintain and improve animal welfare. Myora’s sows are grouped in gestational housing on deep litter bedding for an enriched environment and to improve herd outcomes.
At Myora, we pride ourselves on our incredibly high level of stockmanship, with key assessment skills and knowledge as an essential component to our daily practice, ensuring animals are given the best level of care.
With continual improvements from our research and development programs, Myora considers animal care and health paramount to our farm management.
