Myora offers commercial partners access to Myora’s most advanced maternal and terminal sire line genetics through genetic programs, ensuring emphasis on bio-secure user-friendly solutions to maximise commercial genetic improvement.
Myora’s highest genetic merited maternal and terminal boar lines are located at SABOR, South Australia. Myora maintains a high boar turnover policy within the AI Centre to ensure the genetic gains captured at nucleus level flow through to commercial partners with minimal delay.
SABOR is one of Australia’s largest and most technically advanced pig semen processing centres, with delivery options available Australia-wide and with capability for international export. SABOR is ISO 9001 certified for stringent quality control purposes to satisfy customers.
The In-house multiplication (IHM) programs produce maternal lines that are used with Myora Mixed Duroc semen to produce the commercial generation. This three-breed cross combination delivers the highest genetic benefit, improved production results, excellence in meat and eating quality and long-term sustainability for the production herd.
IHM Program 1 allows commercial partners to breed their replacement gilts in a traditional multiplication system that produces both pure-bred (Landrace or Large White) and F1 (50/50 Landrace/Large White) gilts.
There are two variations of this program – Open and Closed IHM.
Open IHM is based on the farm’s herd being made up of a sub herd of pure-bred GP females and F1 females.
Closed IHM is based on the farm’s herd being made up of a sub herd of pure-bred GGP females, pure-bred GP females and F1 females.
In both systems, maternal line semen is provided to the farm to allow the production of the required GGP, GP and F1 gilts.
IHM Program 2 allows commercial partners to breed their replacement gilts via a criss-cross system that produces cross-bred (Landrace/Large White) gilts.
Maternal line semen is provided to the farm to allow the production of the required cross-bred gilts.
